, a U. S. citizen science project that tracks the path and survivorship of migrating monarchs. There's an email and toll-free number on the tag that people can contact when a tagged butterfly is observed dead or alive. Volunteers are also looking for tagged butterflies at the overwintering sites in Mexico. Over 16,000 tagged butterflies have been recovered since the project started in 1992.
