This species is endemic to Tasmania, Australia (Clark et al. 2003). It is found in small coastal rivers and streams in northern and western Tasmania and also on Hunter Island (Clark et al. 2003). This species’ range might also extend further to the south, however this needs clarifying (Clark et al. 2003). The extent of occurrence is approximately 11,100 km².
