Spumella (spew-mell-a), a heterotrophic stramenopile also referred to as
Monas. With one long flagellum and one short flagellum which flops over the body. The long flagellum has hairs (not visible with the light microscope), but the presence of which causes fluid to be drawn towards the cell. The current carries particles of food which can be ingested after they make contact with the surface of the cell. Phase contrast.
