Description

I found this little weevil in the dunes and thought "what a beautiful weevil, everyone will be so happy to see it!". Then I looked it up and learned it's one of the worst invasive insect pests in Florida. Apparently, it loves to eat the roots of citrus trees and over 270 other species of plants. Since arriving from the Caribbean in 1964, it has spread all the way to California. Though it cannot know it, it has been branded an evil weevil.
