Economic Importance for Humans: Positive
Dovekies have nutritious eggs that have long served as a food source for local indigenous people. Their skins, bones, and beaks have been used for making garments and ornaments. Additionally, large populations of dovekies allow Vulpes lagopus populations to thrive, which in turn benefits local indigenous people who use fox furs for trading purposes. (Gaston and Jones, 1998)
