Observations: Compared with other geckos, these animals appear to mature later, feature a lower reproductive output, and live longer. On the predator-free island of Motunau in New Zealand, these animals appear to be relatively long-lived with 10 animals estimated to be at least 36 years old (Bannock et al. 1999).
