Global Short Term Trend: Relatively stable (=10% change)
Comments: Trend over the period 2001-2010 was relatively stable, but this trend was driven primarily by the relatively stable trend in the largest (Gunnison basin) population; the other populations declined (USFWS 2010)
Global Long Term Trend: Unknown
Comments: The current range is thought to be only about 10 percent of the historical potential habitat area (Schroeder et al. 2004). Maximum historical range was about 55,350 square kilometers (not all of this was simultaneously occupied); current occupied habitat is about 3,795 square kilometers (Gunnison Sage-grouse Rangewide Steering Committee 2005). Population size has clearly declined, but degree of decline in population size is not well established (Gunnison Sage-grouse Rangewide Steering Committee 2005).
