Adults usually solitary, and swim over the reef. Juveniles are found in estuaries. Usually feeds on fishes and crustaceans like crabs and spiny lobsters at night (Ref. 4887). Occurs at temperatures ranging from 26 to 29°C. Large individuals may be ciguatoxic. Sold mostly fresh and dried salted in markets.
