Morphology
Body fusiform, elongate, slender; cuticle very flexible, outline variable; hyaline. Head offset by distinct neck-fold. Tail prominent, rounded. Foot very long, ≥ 4 1/4 total length, 2 pseudosegments, basal pseudosegment short, stout, c. 1/3 length slender terminal pseudosegment; foot telescopically retractable within body. Toes long, slender, lanceolate. Corona slightly oblique, 2 lateral ciliary tufts. Brain moderately large, saccate. Two frontal eyespots, set close together, occasionally fused, often disappearing in adults. Retrocerebral organ absent. Stomach and intestine separated by shallow constriction; proventriculus present. Gastric glands rounded, compressed laterally. Pedal glands very long, elongated, extending into trunk.
Male with functional (?) mastax; foot short, toes lanceolate with slightly drawn-out tips, decurved ventrally.
Rami asymmetrical, broadly triangular, short, alulae short, ± acute; inner margins right with 1-(2) pair(s) of close set teeth; left basal apophyse very large, right short, small; dorsal fenestrae postero-lateral, right larger; a single ventral fenestra, left. Fulcrum very short, in ventral view rod-shaped with slightly expanded posterior end, in lateral view slightly curved. Unci with 4-5 clubbed teeth, ± gradually decreasing in size, principal teeth each with accessory toothlet ventrally; inner side with preunci and plate with skleropili. Manubria long, slender, clubbed, head with 2 short lateral cavities; opening of posterior cavity on inner side, opening of median and anterior cavity externally; posterior end incurved.
