Engel et al. (1997) describe this species, collected from Peru, which is in the diurnal sister genus to the nocturnal Megalopta.
Xenochlora ochrosterna is 11.4 mm long, with a black and green body and pale yellow abdomen. Nothing is known about its biology, but it likely nests in sticks like Megalopta and other Xenochlora.
