Description
A drone (male honeybee) and two workers. There are very few drones left now towards the end of the season - most of the male brood is produced early on during the swarming season in May and June at these latitudes. As the hive shuts down for the winter hibernation there's no room for the drones and those remaining are herded by their sisters to the hive entrance and pushed out into the cold autumn nights to die, but not until they have their wings chewed off so they have no chance of returning!
