Description
Hinahina, ʻĀhinahina or Maui wormwood Asteraceae Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands Maui (Cultivated) Hinahina (bright silvery plant) growing with ʻukiʻuki (Dianella sandwicensis) and ʻūlei (Osteomeles anthyllidifolia). Foliage is faintly aromatic having a sagebrush/wormwood fragrance. Early Hawaiians used hinahina to preserve feather cloaks from insect destruction when stored in calabashes.
