Lepanthes caritensis (Orchidaceae) is a rare Puerto Rican endemic orchid. This species is epiphytic and it occurs on the lower trunks of trees in upper elevation tropical rainforest sites. This orchid's entire known distribution consists of two sites in the Carite State Forest and in the Caribbean National Forest (El Yunque). Although this species occurs on protected land, its populations have been declining for several years.
