Sinai, southern Israel and Jordan, and much of northwestern Arabia. Preliminary examination of Tropiocolotes specimens from northern Arabia housed in the Natural History Museum (London) and the California Academy of Sciences, indicates that these should all be referred to T. nattereri. The species apparently extends as far south as Thumamah Nature Park near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Kordges 1998). A specimen of T. steudneri reported from Riyadh (Schneider 1990) is probably T. nattereri. Reports of the species from central Libya (Pasteur 1960) and Gebel Attaqa near Suez (Werner 1983) were doubted by Baha El Din (1994a) and shown to be erroneous by Shifman et al. (1999).
