NatureServe Conservation Status
Rounded Global Status Rank: GH - Possibly Extinct
Reasons: First collected in 1816 in Dutchess County, New York, then collected several times between 1829 and 1832 in a small area in eastern Pennsylvania (near Bethlehem) where, in spite of repeated searches, it has never been found again. The area in Pennsylvania where the plants were found is now mostly highly developed, but suitable habitats in New York and nearby New Jersey still need inventory. Possibly of hybrid origin.
