Global Range: Worldwide in offshore tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate waters. Along eastern North America, has stranded from Nova Scotia to Florida and Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico. Along western North America, has stranded in northern California. Sightings and strandings also recorded in Hawaii. See IUCN (1991) for further details.
