Average density ranges from a few per ha to about 50 per ha in different areas (Tinkle and Dunham 1986). In Mississippi, spring density ranged up to 72/ha (Parker 1994). In late summer, juvenile density may reach several hundred/ha in some areas, but usually is much less than this. Home range size less than 0.1 ha (see Hammerson 1982). In Mississippi, annual survivorship averaged 30% for yearlings and adults (Parker 1994).
