Regularity: Regularly occurring
Type of Residency: Year-round
A distinctive beetle typically found feeding on flowers. Occurs in the eastern United States, perhaps only east of Appalachians. Larvae have been reported to feed on (decaying wood of) Chestnut/Chinkapin (Castanea spp.). However the insect is found in areas where these are absent, so it likely feeds on other decaying hardwoods. See BugGuide.net account (http://bugguide.net/node/view/527) for details.
