Comments: Appears to constitute a superspecies with A. platyrhynchos and A. rubripes (AOU 1998). Evidence of hybridization with A. platyrhynchos observed in plains region of Colorado-Oklahoma. Sometimes included in A. platyrhynchos. (AOU 1983).
