Spawns usually in spring (February-June), or later depending on water temperature and location. Lays 200-9000 eggs (Wydoski and Whitney 1979), which hatch in 3-4 weeks at 10-15 C. Fry emerge from gravel 2-3 weeks after hatching. Many are sexually mature in 2-3 years.
