Flowers of naturally growing
Hovea species aff.
Hovea acutifolia growing on heavy black clay near Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. This looks very similar to
Hovea acutifolia however there are some small differences. The indumentum is very fine on stems and underside of the leaves, with some sparse dark grey indumentum on upper leaf surface along the midrib. Inflorescence nearly always in threes, on short pedicels (around 3 mm long) with a peduncle of about 5 mm. Calyx about 5 mm with calyx teeth 2-3 mm. Leaves 5-8 mm long by 7-10 mm wide. - tapered at both ends - stipule extremely small, about 1 mm. Petals dark mauve 12 mm X 8 mm with yellow base on standard. Shrub to around 2 meters growing on heavy black clay in open woodland. Location would appear to be further west than records of
H. acutifolia.
