Threatened beauty of the pine flatwoods catching the first rays of morning sun at the very wet Sweetbay Natural Area, Palm Beach County, Florida.  This amazing native lily was named for the British naturalist & illustrator Mark Catesby. His work influenced many future naturalists including Audubon. These blossoms were a very deep reddish orange and probably newly opened. I saw others that had faded to a much lighter orange color.
