Justification Psilorhynchus nepalensis is known from the Seti, Upper Rapti, Buri Rapti and Narayaniand Kosi Rivers and the Chitwan National Park in Nepal, where its total extent of occurrence is greater around 35,000 km2. It is a very common species and locally abundant. Threats to this species are unknown. Further survey work is needed to determine whether or not this species is experiencing a decline, or is undergoing extreme population fluctuations, and at present the species is assessed as Least Concern.
