Description
Depth 15 m. The column of this anemone measures about 15 cm high. The brilliant red color arises from carotenoid pigments which work their way up the food web from diatoms. The tentacles are loaded with stinging cells, nematocysts, that entrap prey which then is thrust into the anemone's mouth.
