Types from hydrothermal vents at Snake Pit (23°22`N, 44V56`W) and Broken Spur (29°10.01`N, 43°10.43`W) on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge bewteen 1626-3650 m depth (Tyler et al., 1995). Also found at the Florida Escarpment cold seep in the Gulf of Mexico (Turnipseed et al., 2004).
