Description
2011-03-13 Vienna XIII. district (Lainzer Tiergarten, 410 m AMSL). A female one (as it is a grown-up, and it doesn't have tusks). So-called Lainzer Tiergarten is both a nature reserve and a wild boar 'park' ('Saugarten' in German): in former times it was reserved for nobility to hunt boar and deer, now the boar population is still kept very high (and they're still shot, of course - and served too, in some inns inside the park), to such a degree that meadows (see e. g. here) there are all dug-up by them, and forests hardly can sustain any undergrowth. German name: Wildschwein
