A very interesting aspect of the biology of C. viridis is that it provides us with an excellent example of parallel evolution. It looks and acts much like a South American relative, the Emerald Tree Boa. Though the resemblance in appearance and behavior is strong, there are significant differences as well. An example would be that the boa bears live young, whereas like all other python species, C. viridis is oviparous.
