Roderic Page commented on "Homonyms on EOL":
@Katja Schulz: You're welcome. My dream is that all this "tracking down" will become trivial once we start embedding the primary literature into taxonomic databases...

@Roderic Page: Thanks for tracking this down. It looks like our WoRMS hierarchy data are out of date. I put in a request to get it fixed.

Roderic Page commented on "Homonyms on EOL":
@Katja Schulz: OK, I missed that because there doesn't seem to be a page for the foram genus Ceratina (there is one for the foram species Ceratina trochamminoides).
Interestingly the foram genus Ceratina appears in the WoRMS classification in EOL, but the current WoRMS classification uses the replacement name Zoyaella published in "Six new generic names in the Mycetozoida (Trichiidae) and Foraminiferida (Fischerinidae, Butiminidae, Caucasinidae, and Pleurostomellidae), and a redescription of Loxostomum (Loxostomidae, new family)" Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 75: 107--113 (1962) http://biostor.org/reference/82624. The name Zoyaella has its own page in EOL http://eol.org/pages/2953944 (mispelt as Zoiaella), so there's some internal inconsistency in EOL's version of the WoRMS classification (i.e., the foram genus Ceratina and species Ceratina trochamminoides shouldn't appear in the WoRMS classification in EOL, nor should the name Zoiaella). -
Katja Schulz commented on "Homonyms on EOL":
@Roderic Page: Ceratina is also a genus in Foraminifera, see the hierarchy entry page here. This page mixes the bee with the foram.
-
Roderic Page commented on "Homonyms on EOL":
@Katja Schulz: Not sure why Ceratina has been added as a homonym. http://eol.org/pages/15595 is the genus Ceratina, http://eol.org/pages/10888823 is the subgenus Ceratina (Ceratina). Cases like this will be quite common in those taxonomic groups where people use subgenera.
