Let's find all the blue organisms in the Tree of Life! Join the community to add your own discoveries.

You can also create your own blue-themed collections and add the whole collection to the community focus collection. Here are a few suggestions for your inspiration:


  • blue beetles, birds, frogs, butterflies, fish, jellyfish, fungi, flowers etc.
  • birds with blue heads, lizards with blue tongues, insects with blue wings, plants with blue fruits, etc.
  • animals that are blue only as juveniles, or only as adults, or only during mating season
  • animals where only one of the sexes is blue
  • blueing mushrooms
  • organisms that get their blue color from azulene
  • blue organisms with iridophores
