Found in trees and shrubs; can change between green and brown. When brown, it is easy to confuse with the non-native brown anole (Anolis sagrei), but is generally longer and thinner, with an unpatterned back. Where brown anoles occur (mainly in/near developed areas), the green is more likely to be in trees and the brown is more likely to be on the ground. -
