I love how the white pine received more mention than any other tree. The Eastern White Pine is important for the production of softwood lumber. Its wood is used for construction, furniture making, handcrafts, and a stock of other woodworking uses.
This tree looks like the Liriodendron Tulipferia. It can grow up to 100 feet.
it is cool that the Tulip poplar actually is not a poplar, but a member of the magnolia family.
I like how the identification of the species is based on the size and arrangement of the leaves, the size and shape of the cones, and whether the bract scales of the cones are long and exserted, or short and hidden inside the cone.
