Pursuing its mission to promote global dissemination of knowledge, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) has been acting as EOL's Arab ambassador of biodiversity since the Encyclopedia's launch in 2011. The BA carries out its binary role as the main player for coordinating the involvement of many Arab institutions and research groups in terms of content, and as a technical implementer of strategies pertaining to the internationalization of EOL system and developing the required tools for ingesting new Arabic and non-Arabic content into EOL.
