Yellow-and-brown Australian Insects
Last updated about 4 years ago
Australian ecosystems include a large number of small- to medium-sized moths (Lepidoptera) and other insects with a distinctive yellow and dark brown colour pattern on the forewings. These include representatives of the Tineidae, Oecophoridae, Hypertrophidae, and even Arctiidae, as well as a caddisfly (Trichoptera) in the family Calamoceratidae. This collection is an attempt to gather together images of some of these species to support consideration of common factors which may provide evolutionary pressure in support of this colouration scheme.
