Paul Merviel commented on "Carcharodon carcharias":

Ok, I've had just about had enough of people who call this the "Great White Shark". Extremely negative connotations have been attached to this name, let alone "Man-Eater Shark" or "White Death". Over the past decade, sharks were responsible for an average of 75 attacks around the world and fewer than 5 fatalities per year. Yet, humans have hunted them for fin soup and targeted eradication programs at a rate faster than their rate of reproduction. They are being exterminated for absolutely no reason. This is scandalous, and it should not last. One way to stop this happening is to simply change the common name of Carcharodon carcharias to "White Shark". Someone please do this, and we'll be a step closer to saving the fate of Carcharodon carcharias, and most other sharks for that reason.
