@Derek Sikes: Two things: (1) Not all synonyms are displayed in the synonyms tab. We currently list only the data from EOL classification providers. We really need to change that, but haven't gotten around to doing that yet. (2) But in this case that wouldn't have helped, because we actually don't have a formal N. confusus = jnr syn of N. sepultor from any of our data partners. Instead I have simply merged the taxon concepts based on your advice. So we have a tool to merge/split taxon concepts, but we don't have a tool to manually enter synonym relationships. If you can provide a silphid hierarchy somewhere that includes synonyms, we could upload these data as an alternative browsing hierarchy on EOL, and we could promote it to an EOL classification providers, so the synonyms would become visible.
