@Tom Brodowski: The only country reported in FishBase where this French name was used is in a book on fishes from Mauritania. The mostly used French name is 'espadon' followed by "poisson-épée'. The name 'porte-épée' or 'poisson porte-epee' refers mostly to a small aquarium killifish, Xiphophorus helleri, and other species of the same genus whose Greek rooted scientific name means exactly that: carrying a sword.
