Great Basin National Park Orthoptera

Last updated over 2 years ago

No Orthoptera were known to Great Basin National Park until the 2010 BioBlitz that focused on Orthopteriods. Dr. Andrew Barnum from Dixie State College in St. George, Utah led the effort that resulted in the first Orthoptera being added to the park list. It is suspected that many more live in the park, and additional collecting at various locations and throughout the field season will likely greatly expand this list. Great Basin National Park continues to hold annual BioBlitzes. You can find more information at: http://www.nps.gov/grba/naturescience/great-basin-bioblitz.htm
