    Elephants

Elephants in Thailand were considered sacred, yet many of them are mistreated and tamed for industrial purposes. In Thailand, elephants can be found on the streets and roads, in danger of being run over by traffic. during our stay in Chiang Mai, we visited an organization that bought mistreated elephants off owners and nourished them. I thought this was strange because the idea of elephants being sacred led me to think that they were treated with alot of care and respect, yet this wasn't the case.
